Composer Chris Becker lives and works in New York City composing, arranging, and recording music for a wide variety of solo and collaborative projects including music for dance, mixed-media installations, and film. His music utilizes the recording studio as both an instrument and a means of notating to tape. In performance, Becker's prerecorded music and sounds are combined with the gesture of live performance using live mixing techniques. Rock and roll language, indigenous rhythms from around the world, and musique concrète are all part of his compositional palette. He studied composition at Capital University with Dr. Rocky J. Reuter (Assistant Dean, Conservatory of Music) and Stan Smith.
Becker's music has been featured on WNYC's New Sounds (hosted by John Schaffer) and Overnight Music (hosted by Helga Davis), WWNO and WWOZ in New Orleans and on KCSC's The Composer Next Door (hosted by Rob Deemer). (continued)
